ROBERT POPESCU
Jazz guitar’s future is in good hands with
Robert Popescu. This talented young
guitarist plays with both energy and taste,
as his brand new “take” on things is also
grounded in the instrument’s long tradition
and jazz idioms like BeBop, Cool Jazz, Latin,
Swing and Pop-Fusion.
Whether playing solo or with one of his
groups, Popescu brings a diverse
repertoire and an innate talent for great
arrangements. He’s on the go with group
configurations that range from his guitar-
bass duo to a guitar-flute twosome (see
The Mono Duo), plus the Robert Popescu
Trio and a progressive new quartet.
Despite his youthful status, Popescu has
already played alongside the likes of Frank
Mullen, Johnny Lamb, Joey DeFrancesco,
Buster Cooper and many other talented jazz
professionals. His dynamic, sophisticated
